even though we're still waiting for vikter to place his music on display in september (and i'm excited about picking his album up), i have some ideas for "artist of the month" for the near future... how about chrisette michele's "i am," which dropped this past june OR janelle monae's "metropolis," which is set to drop the 24th of this month (and you can pre-order for $5 on her website www.janellemonae.com). both women are setting the tone for the future of music & are blending the boundaries b/t genres... lets show them some love!
...that sounds cool. I'm all for Sista Power. But, if I may (and you know I will...lol), suggest we listen to Adriana Evans last album "El Cerrito". I've seen RAVE reviews for it...but it may be a challenge to find. Its an import and expensive for a CD. But I'm know Adriana is well worth it. Check her out when you get a chance...
I'm still listening to Vikter and enjoying him so far. I recommend Alice Smith for an upcoming month. She's definitely worthy of this forum.

Yo…I put a little time into Vikter D. finally (thankfully I DID NOT buy this album).
My Positives:
I thought the production/music was cool on most tracks. Most notably I liked the music/feel on tracks 3 (I See The Sun), 6 (Make A Baby), and 7 (The Way That I Feel). I like the soulful-house music blends. I reminds me of hanging with friends in a lounge or a cool little restaurant spot or something. I dug that.
My Negatives:
Okay…I got bopped over the head on this one. This album sucks! Lol
I peeped a few of Duplaix’s songs on liquid soul radio and I liked those joints. I guess I fell into the “packaging” on his website with the reviews from reputable sources and whatnot. Straight up though, on talent, ideas/creativity – this dude sucks!
I figured since I didn’t know much about him, but liked some of his “music” he’d be cool to start off the music listening group – nope. I dropped the ball on this one.
I thought he’d have more vocal depth, range, and creativity. I guess I was looking for a Bilal, Eric Roberson, Raheem DeVaughn type feel. Nope…
Thoughts? Critiques?
DISCLAIMER: People, I appreciate you getting involved in this. But before you go purchase a CD…check out some stuff beforehand on the internet. I hope others DID NOT buy this album. LOL…Oops! If you did I’ll seriously consider refunding you.
Lets get focused on October. Maybe it shouldn’t give my suggestion (though Adriana Evans – El Camino is a true eargasm in the wating)…I’m all for sista power – suggestions again?
